The Level 1 Employability Course is designed to help you develop the key skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to succeed in the world of work. Throughout the course, you’ll explore what employers look for, build a positive and motivated mindset, and learn how to communicate clearly and confidently in different situations.
The course also covers essential everyday skills like managing your money, using digital tools in the workplace, and staying safe, healthy, and professional on the job.

Get to know the world of work from the inside out. Discover different types of businesses, their customers, and what it means to be an employee. You’ll explore what employers expect in different scenarios and how your own experience aligns with those expectations.
Developing Assertiveness
Learn the art of confident communication. Explore what it means to be assertive versus passive or aggressive, and how assertiveness can help you in the workplace. You’ll practice using assertive behaviours to handle real-life scenarios with clarity and control.
ICT for Employment

I have gained a good understanding about what it is like to work in an office workplace and how my attitude and motivation can affect the work that I am doing. It helped my settle into my workplace as I already knew a lot of the things I have started doing and I was a lot more comfortable in starting in an office-based environment from it.

I joined Hull Business Training Centre’s Employability course in 2024. My time on the course was great and the staff were super helpful and supportive. Dorian who taught the course was an excellent teacher and I am grateful for their support during the duration of the course which allowed me to pass with flying colours and their continued support as I started applying for apprenticeships.
Mackauly and Mya from the recruitment team have also been a great source of help and support in my endeavour to gaining an apprenticeship. They made the application and interview process much less stressful which was greatly appreciated. This has now paid off as I have been accepted for a teaching assistant apprenticeship.
