IT Helpdesk Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated IT Helpdesk Engineer to join a highly collaborative and award-winning IT support team in Hull. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will provide advanced technical support across a range of client environments, ensuring issues are diagnosed and resolved efficiently, within agreed service levels. You will work across a broad mix of systems and technologies, supporting both users and infrastructure while maintaining a strong focus on communication, professionalism, and service quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide desktop and server support across Windows and Linux environments
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues within agreed SLAs
- Log, manage, and update incidents using the IT helpdesk system (Remedy)
- Escalate complex issues to senior engineers when required
- Monitor backups and carry out test restores
- Support MS Server and desktop environments
- Set up and configure new laptops, desktops, and user accounts (Active Directory & email)
- Install and manage approved software and antivirus solutions
- Manage Active Directory and user lifecycle administration
- Support firewall configuration and management
- Assist with VPN connectivity and network troubleshooting
- Patch client networks and maintain system updates
- Ensure accurate documentation of systems, processes, and client environments
- Identify hardware and software upgrade requirements
- Maintain software licensing records
- Provide clear communication to clients and internal teams at all times
- Support IT projects and site-based work when required
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong experience in IT support/helpdesk environments
- Confident working with Windows OS, Linux systems, TCP/IP networking, and Office 365
- Knowledge of firewall and VPN technologies
- Experience with Active Directory and desktop/server support
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive, positive attitude and strong team ethic
- Full UK driving licence
